New members applications to--------mail@newbridgescouts.com
NEW LEADERS NEEDED.....If you are interested in becoming a leader, please contact me.
If your family member wants to join Beavers, Cubs or Scouts also let me know, and I will pass on the request to the section involved, who will process the application.
NEW MEMBER APPLICATIONS MAY HAVE TO BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST DUE TO INCREASED INTEREST IN SCOUTING.
We will try our best to enrol everyone but we are constrained by Scouting Rules to a ratio of 1 leader to 6 Beavers and 1 to 8 in the other sections. Suitable new leaders would be welcome and we would ask parents and friends to consider joining as active leaders. Training will be provided. We would also like you support with fundraising events.
The first of these is the Lions Club 6km sponsored walk .
More details to follow.
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP
We hope to provide between 36 to 40 weekly meetings during the year. This is outside of any day trips, events or camping. Membership fees for the year:
First family member €75, Second family member €60 and subsequent family members @ 55.
Weekly Subscription € 3.00
UNIFORM:
The full and correct scout uniform should be obtained and worn for investiture or public parades and events. The Scout Group will initally supply the following upon joining for €15:
Group neckerchief, woggle, provincial badge, county badge and group badge.
The uniform can be purchased by visiting the Outdoor Adventure Store at 34-35 Upper Liffey Street, Dublin, or you could shop online from the store at http://www.oas.ie
Other badges like investiture badge, progress and merit badges are earned by the members and awarded throughout the year there is no charge for these items.
SCOUT LAW:
Every member in making the appropriate scout promise on investiture, tries to live and uphold the scout law at all times, including respect for others, fair play, helpfulness, loyalty and trustworthiness. It would only be with great reluctance but necessary that membership be revoked if the scout law is disrespected and broken.
ABSENCES:
We would ask that the Section Leader be informed of any absences from the regular meetings. Missing more that two meetings in a row would need to be reviewed as the member has not been part of a planned programme and everyone loses out. We could also be depriving someone else of a place.
Scouting is all about fun, friendship and adventure, and you can see from the various photos on our site that this is the case. It is something that, once involved, its values and experiences stay with you for life.
